If Jesse hadn't realized that he had been paying for his ex's gym membership for a year, and that carelessness cost him over $1000, there was a good chance he wasn't the only one that experienced this type of thing.
I logged into my Chase Bank account and started scanning for charges that I didn't immediately recognize. After going through my statements for about 20 minutes I saw that I joined Jesse the brotherhood of forgetful financial stupidity.
Here's a screenshot of my charges for HBO Nordic, a version of HBO NOW but only available in Scandinavia. Why did I have this? I had signed up for a free trial while visiting Stockholm, Sweden with my girlfriend last summer so we could watch True Detective when we got home from going out. I completely forgot that I signed up after coming back home and didn't cancel the free trial.
